PASO Magazine was founded in 2001 by Bob Chute. He ran it successfully for 16 years through major economic, technological, and geological upheavals — the economic crisis of 2007, the onset of the iPhone, smart phones and online publishing, and the devastating San Simeon earthquake that rocked downtown Paso Robles.
Through it all, Bob Chute ran a successful community magazine and improved the product as recently as May 2016, when a rebranding evolution produced the PASO Magazine moniker and a significant styling upgrade.
In December 2016, local media entrepreneur Nic Mattson — seeking veteran advice — approached Bob Chute about the magazine business. Through a conversation over lunch, the two began negotiations for the sale of the PASO Magazine to Nic and Hayley Mattson. The sale was made final in September 2017.
As a native of San Luis Obispo County, since 1978, Nic has a passion for the Central Coast, and North SLO County. After moving back to Atascadero from Mammoth Lakes in 2006, he found a renewed sense of belonging in San Luis Obispo County and through PASO Magazine, he is committed to sharing his passion for his home county to residents and visitors.
PASO Magazine is a news and lifestyle magazine focused on a special blend of Paso Robles, North SLO County, and Central Coast-related content, to deliver a high-quality product for local residents and visitors. On the Central Coast, we have so much to share. We host visitors from around the world looking for a getaway to our world-class beaches and world-famous wine country. We also have new permanent residents and multigenerational families who share strong hometown values and sense of responsibility for our corner of the world. We relate to that.
Please join us in celebrating our community by submitting an article idea, or becoming a regular advertiser for this publication so we can continue to deliver high-quality content to everyone in the Paso Robles area.
